1. Election of Treasurer
Jim Scott reported that Richard Johnson, whilst sober, had agreed to
take on the role of Hon Treasurer and will be able to join our next
meeting
2. Administration
The secretary was severely reprimanded by the chairman for failing to
produce an agenda
3. Minutes of last meeting
The minutes from the last meeting were adopted as a true record of the
previous meeting. The Secretary was asked to add an item relating to the
cost of purchasing the Pro-share manual. It was agreed that the secretary
should be re-imbursed £28.50 for the cost of this manual from club funds.
4. Discussion relating to appointment of stockbroker
Peter Tapping and Jim Scott reported on a shortlist of three on line
brokers – Sharepeople, Charles Schwabb and TD Waterhouse. None of these
met all of our needs and Pete Tapping agreed to liase with Richard Johnson
to agree the appointment of an online stockbroker. The meeting gave a
mandate to make a decision and open an account on behalf of the club at
the earliest opportunity.
5. Appointment of Bankers
Decision to be linked with appointment of stockbroker
6. New Members of the club.
It was agreed that new members can be introduced as soon as the club is
operational. It was noted that several people in the village have
expressed an interest to join
7. Payment of Subscriptions
Initial payments to be made by cheque at next meeting and presented
with completed Membership application
8. Investment
The meeting considered telecoms as a most promising sector. Other areas
for consideration were:-
Electronics
Telecoms masts and base stations
Country bookstore
Companies involved in research/production of animal vaccine,
particularly associated with Foot & Mouth disease
Companies involved in general animal welfare
Vodka Revolution
London Property market
Paul specifically suggested Vodafone at a price of 207.5 and Jim
suggested Bookham Technologies at 360 - both prices at close of business
on 27 March 2001. Prices at the date of next meeting to be available.
Paul produced a written rationale for his investment proposal together
with a recent chart of the share’s performance thus setting a standard
for future investment proposals.

The next meeting will be held at the QA at 8.30pm on Tuesday 10th April
2001.

8.30pm.
Please note amended start time
Update:

the two nominated account holders which renders them useless for us.
